Domaine-des-Chezeaux-Griotte-ChambertinDomaine des Chezeaux

Created in 1982 from vineyards held by the Mercier family since 1928, the Domaine des Chézeaux today owns 4 ha of vines in the Côte-de-Nuits including 2 ha of Grand Crus between Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny.

The Domaine des Chézeaux owns almost 60% of Griotte-Chambertin, smallest and the most elegant of the nine Gevrey Grand Crus.

The Domaine des Chézeaux is privileged to have the opportunity to respect the characteristics of each vintage that are exemplified in these, the finest wines from Burgundy.

All the wines of Domaine des Chézeaux are vinified and raised with the utmost of respect for the great traditions of Burgundy.

This tradition combines the best of the ‘ancient knowledge’ with current ‘best practice’ in the areas of vineyard management, vinification and elevage.

The harvesting is by hand with grape sorting at the vines. The winemaking itself is long and traditional with a pre-fermantaion maceration of 12-18 days, followed by up to two years in oak casks.

Prior to bottling, the casks are assembled and then bottling is completely by hand, without fining, filtration or other ‘manipulations’.

Domaine Chevillon Chezeaux à Nuits Saint Georges

1) Gevrey-Chambertin A.O.C

Tenderness combined with the depth of old vines from a climate close to the premier crus.

2) Premiers Crus

Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru – Les Cazetiers
One of the most complex of the premier crus. Fruity vigourous and tannic with notes of rose and cloves.

Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru – Lavaux-Saint-Jacques
One of the Gevrey ‘Lords’. Wild berries and violets for super elegance.

Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru – Les Charmes
Elegant, sensual and feminine. A refined alliance of red and black fruits.

3) Grands Crus

CLOS SAINT DENIS Vieilles Vignes
Cuvée Vieilles Vignes
‘The Mozart of the Côte’ . . . .
A composition which includes finesse with aromas of cherries, black fruit and spice

Le Griotte-Chambertin
The Wine:
Less vigourous than Chambertin, Griotte-Chambertin is a rare wine, with a ruby hue, sensuality, breeding and elegance; a confiture of cherry flavours, red fruits, licorice and spices – a mineral note too. It is a wine with round tannins that suit perfectly the natural low acidity of the climat. Soft in the mouth, it is opulent and glossy – a wine of silk and lace.

CHAMBERTIN
Vinification:
Since 1982, Domaine Ponsot has both cultivated the vines and vinified the Chambolle Charmes, Clos Saint Denis vieilles vignes, Griotte Chambertin and the Chambertin
‘The King of Wines’ . . . .
‘Breed and power, but balance’ . . . .
Fleshy and vigorous. A bouquet of black fruit, rose and violet that will only improve with age.
